Hidden King
The King is born but hid away
His birth proclaims a glorious day
Angels praise, while silence reigns
And lost mankind can lose their chains.
In a stable, out of sight,
Darkness now gives way to light
No pomp or ceremony, trumpet call
God so vast, a child so small.
No headlines in the palace press.
Earth's great rulers could not care less.
The simple shepherds learn the news
A call from God they can't refuse.
A babe who is the greatest king
Brings the best news that angels sing
His crown on Earth is one of thorns
But glorious is the day that dawns
Brings hope and peace and love and joy
Ruler of all, a tiny boy.
