Wandering Stranger
It seems that all was lent to him;
Nothing did he own.
A wandering stranger came our way;
This world was not his home.
He scattered seeds of wisdom
That blossomed with new life.
He touched the sick and helpless
Brought peace where once was strife.
The stranger taught of mercy
The very words of God.
His poverty was treasure,
Riches in his hands.
Wandering through a thirsty world
Peace shone from his warm eyes
No pretence could trap him
He saw through each disguise.
No learning could outwit him
He knew the human heart.
Man's power could not subdue him
Nor evil tricks or art.
